As the Albion awaits the decision on the Falmer stadium, my thoughts are with you and my best wishes go out to everyone from the directors to the supporters.
I have been keeping a close watch on developments ever since the Goldstone ground was lost.
I was born in Brighton, attended Brighton, Hove and East Sussex Grammar School and all my family still live in Hove.
I grew up only a short walk from the Goldstone ground and the Albion gave me a great deal of pleasure and a lifelong love of football.
I left home to join the Navy in 1966 but have many different memories of the Albion - including winning promotion to Division 2 and the draw with Burnley in the fourth round of the FA Cup in 1961. I got soaked queuing outside the North Stand on the morning of the game but it was worth it.
I recall the 10-1 defeat of Wisbech in the first round of the FA Cup in 1965 and, last but not least, the two FA Cup games against Canvey Island a few years ago.
I am now a "naturalised" Islander, having lived here for 17 years. I am a season ticket holder and enjoy Conference football but I always look out for the Albion's result and support them whenever I can.
I even managed to get a replay ticket for the FA Cup Final against Manchester United.
Hopefully getting a new stadium will make it easier for me to get a ticket. Once again, good luck.
