Reading of the Impulse Leisure's vast increase in fees ("Pensioners priced out of swimming sessions", The Argus, October 7) prompts me to add my disgust.
A mention was made of fees being doubled. An increase of £1.70 to more than £4 makes an increase of about 150 per cent. My yearly pension increase is only just over £1 per week, so I cannot afford nearly £10 a week at the Lancing Centre.
A short while ago, I paid more than £20 for membership but now that has "fallen by the wayside".
A year after a triple by-pass operation, and approaching 79, I felt my twice-weekly sessions were helping me. And now, because of the increases in fees, these have stopped. Impulse has given no consideration to pensioners.
If, through lack of support, Impulse begins to lose profits, would that perhaps mean sacking some staff?
