We went to see Alan Carr's show at the Corn Exchange in Brighton on Saturday night as part of the Paramount Comedy Festival.
Having paid £12 for each ticket, plus a nominal booking fee, we expected what we paid for - a show.
What we actually got was a performance which began late at 7.45pm and finished at 8.30pm.
Of the paltry 45 minutes of his "new Edinburgh" show, about 30 per cent of the jokes were rehashed from his previous routines.
We have tickets for some other shows and we just hope the other acts give a little more value for money.
Either way, judging by our experience, it would be wise for any of your festival-going readers to make plans for after the show, just in case they get left high and dry like we did.
