Why pull out all stops to gather some of the top budding comic talents in one room and then only give them ten minutes to flourish?
This must have been the question many of the audience were asking as they left the Pavilion.
So much expectation - it being an award-winning Edinburgh show - yet so much disappointment.
Thanks goodness for Jo Caulfield whose comic expertise ensured her genius bloomed in the snapshot time allocated.
Others - like Wendy Wayson - were hardly given time to start.
The situation was not helped by compere Karen Bailey who steamed off the blocks in a race against time, relying heavily on a jokes book she probably got in her Christmas stocking ten years ago.
Saturday's show was the first of a 20-date tour and hopefully more time will be granted for these women to show why they are among the funniest on the circuit.
