I was interested to read about the Specsavers store in North Street, Brighton, where half the staff are related (The Argus, October 4).
This brings to mind a story my late father told me. When he was young man he got a job at Sainsbury's (this was long before supermarkets had been introduced).
After a while he was dismissed the reason being that the manager had found out his brother-in-law was already working in the shop and it was company policy that relatives were not permitted to work together in the same branch.
I cannot imagine what mischief the company thought two relatives working in the same shop might get up to!
