A county council will be challenged about controversial plans to construct a waste incinerator.
A Newhaven resident has tabled two questions to East Sussex County Council about the incinerator proposed for North Quay in the town.
The facility would be built by waste contractor Onyx and would deal with rubbish from East Sussex and Brighton and Hove.
Jan Marshall, of Arundel Road, Newhaven, has asked: "If the council is ready for a second inquiry into incineration, why will it not stop wasting time and money and make recycling, not incineration, the heart of the policy now?
"If it is not ready for a second public inquiry then why not, given that the public objections are continuing to add to the writing on the wall."
Coun Matthew Lock, cabinet member for transport and the environment, will be asked to reply in writing to the questions before the council meeting on Tuesday.
At the meeting Mrs Marshall will be allowed to ask a further question.
