I was astounded to read (The Argus, September 29) about Suchi Chatterjee phoning 999 for the fire brigade to get her up to her first-floor flat when the lift was out of order and she is wheelchair-bound.
This defies belief and it is not the first time she has done this. Surely it is the responsibility of her landlord and/or the managing agents to provide her with access to the flat - not the fire brigade.
I do hope on the previous occasion(s) she has availed herself of this service, the owners or agents were billed by the fire brigade.
And, more worryingly, having got Ms Chatterjee into her flat, how on earth was she going to get out again, particularly in an emergency.
It seems total madness for a person who is wheelchair-bound to even contemplate living above the ground-floor level. What if there was a fire?
