Richard Pacquette fired a win double as Worthing roared back from two goals down to continue their charge up the Ryman premier table at the Gladwish Stadium last night.
The high-flying Reds could not get off the ground in a nightmare opening half.
But joint managers Alan Pook and Danny Bloor read their side the riot act at the interval and it sparked a revival.
Pacquette, making his first start in nearly six weeks because of a groin problem, led the way and Stafford Browne and Sam Francis completed the scoreline.
Bloor said: "The first half was the worst we've played all season. We were appalling. I lost my temper at half-time and Alan and I gave the players a few home truths.
"They showed tremendous spirit and character to bounce back. We want promotion this season. I'm a winner and so is Alan and hopefully we can do it.
"I'm pleased for Richard Pacquette. He could be the key to our season."
Pook sat in the stand with a face like thunder throughout the opening 45 minutes.
There were two teams in front of them nicknamed Rebels - one yelled in frustration and the other in delight as Worthing went two goals down to strikes from Ian Hodges on nine minutes and Leigh Mason a minute before half-time.
It was hard to believe that Worthing had not been beaten since the opening day of the season.
Two minutes after the restart Pacquette reduced the arrears with a header from an Andy Lutwyche cross and 11 minutes later Browne converted a penalty after Francis was fouled by Andy Balland.
In the 74th minute, Pacquette powered his second from 15 yards after being put through by Danny Davis and Francis wrapped the points eight minutes from time with his seventh goal of the season.
