In response to Mr G Cosgrove (Letters, September 27) regarding Brighton, Hove and District trolleybuses, readers may like to know that the last day of Brighton Hove and District trolleybuses was March 24, 1959, and No 342 (CPM 53) was the last to run from the Aquarium to Whitehawk Garage via Elm Grove and the Race Hill on service 43.
Brighton Corporation trolleybuses continued to run until June 30, 1961, when No 1 (FUF 1) performed the final duty from the Aquarium to Lewes Road Garage.
Brighton, Hove and District trolleybus No 6340 (CPM 61) is preserved and is stored as part of the Reserve Road Transport collection of the Science Museum at Wroughton, near Swindon.
Brighton Corporation trolleybus No 52 is in working condition at the East Anglia Transport Museum, Carlton Colville near Lowestoft.
Externally, it wears the yellow ochre and cream livery of Maidstone Corporation because it ran there until April 15, 1967. It has, however, recently been restored internally to Brighton condition.
