J Hayward obviously has different thoughts on what the word majority means (Letters, September 29), or conveniently forgets the referendum held on the Falmer stadium.
Way back, at the beginning of this sorry, dragged-out affair, the people of Brighton and Hove voted by a massive majority for the stadium to be sited at Falmer - and a majority of Brighton and Hove councillors, too.
Mr Hayward also manages to neglect the marvellous scenes across to the Sixties-style buildings of the two universities. Not to mention the wonderfully relaxing sound of traffic thundering down the A27 right through the middle of this so-called idyllic village.
This land will eventually be built upon. I would have thought a stadium, which is unlikely to be used more than 40 days a year, would be preferable to an industrial estate.
It is about time the whole sorry process was brought to an end and the wishes of the majority were respected.
