The Rev John Webster asks what authority Guy Morley, the Dome's head of programming, has to decide which shows are staged (Letters, September 28).
What authority has Rev Webster to decide what others may see in the theatre or on television?
Much has been made of protests to BBC Television about Jerry Springer The Opera. Significantly, most of the protests were received before Jerry Springer was televised, indicating an organised letter writing campaign.
Mr Webster's assertion that Jerry Springer The Opera was "rejected by a large number of theatres" is rather misleading.
Threats of violence and disruption caused several managements to cancel bookings.
This is hardly surprising, in view of the recent attack by a religious mob protesting against a play at Birmingham Repertory Theatre they had not even seen.
