Homeowners have won nationwide acclaim for producing some of the lowest amounts of rubbish in the South-East.
Residents in and around Lewes are sending less waste to landfill sites than any other area of East Sussex, placing the district council among the top 20 performing authorities in the country.
The council has unveiled Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle, a guide to encourage people to cut back on waste.
Sarah Osborne, lead member for the environment, said: "At just 338kg of waste per person each year, Lewes District Council is among the top 20 councils nationally. The new leaflet offers information that will help residents help us in continuing to minimise waste production."
