David Lepper and Dr Des Turner, two of our local MPs, have expressed their concern that the law is about to change and seriously disadvantage all social sector leaseholders.
Des Turner has told the Brighton and Hove Council Leaseholders' Independent Forum:
"It is wrong that leaseholders of social landlords should be treated under the law as second class citizens compared to private leaseholders. I believe it is essential all leaseholders have access as their right to audited accounts for their properties."
Anyone interested in lease-holders' rights and the accountability of public money is welcome to attend our next meeting, which is to be held at The Brighthelm Centre, North Road, Brighton, next Wednesday (7.30pm).
Our meetings last about an hour and a quarter. David Lepper will address us and the title of his talk will be, "When is a lease not a contract?".
Support our campaign before it is too late.
-Nick Green, chairman, Brighton and Hove Council Leaseholders' Independent Forum
