Travellers have incurred the wrath of countryside lovers by setting up camp again on a piece of protected greenbelt land.
At least eight caravans have converged at Waterhall, Brighton, considered an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Police and Brighton and Hove City Council has been alerted to their presence but travellers were still at the site late yesterday.
Travellers camping at Waterhall has been a long-term problem. At its height, more than 40 caravans have set up home on the valley.
Residents have written to The Argus in the past complaining of hedgerows and bushes being used as makeshift toilets and the hillside a tip for building rubble and garden waste.
Sussex Police last night said they were aware of travellers being at the site "for a few days" but did not say what action would be taken to remove them.
