Mum-to-be Chloe Harrison was rushed to hospital with labour pains - on the eve of her wedding day.
The 24-year-old began having contractions on her hen night before her big day and was rushed into hospital two weeks early.
But Chloe and her partner Grant were so desperate for the marriage to go ahead as scheduled, they pleaded with midwives to discharge them for an hour so they could get to the register office.
After being granted approval, the couple dashed home for Chloe to squeeze into her wedding dress - still with a drip in her arm - before rushing to Eastbourne Town Hall to say: "I do".
After a quick stop at home for their family to crack open champagne, they then returned to Eastbourne District General Hospital (DGH) as newlyweds.
Chloe, of Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne, said: "It was certainly a wedding to remember.
I had already had some drugs at the hospital so I was quite spaced out.
"After leaving the hospital, we rushed home to get changed and I pulled a comb through my hair. I had planned to have it curled but instead I still had a bit of sick in it.
"It wasn't the look I planned for my wedding day but I don't think I scrubbed up too badly.
"I wasn't in a lot of pain, I was just really spaced out.
"Afterwards, we went back to our flat to cut the cake and everyone else had champagne.
"They had champagne, I had an epidural."
Staff at the DGH helped make the day special after Chloe and Grant had to cancel their reception and hotel booking.
They found a spare bed and pushed it up against Chloe's so the newlyweds could spend their wedding night together and dimmed the lights.
Four days after their unusual wedding, Chloe finally gave birth gave birth to 6lb 7oz Flynn, a healthy baby boy.
Grant, 25, who works for a fitness marketing company, said: "We booked the wedding for September 10 about six months ago. We knew the baby was due on the 22nd but it was the only date the town hall could fit us in.
"Chloe was with some friends having her hen night the evening before when she went into labour and we rushed up to hospital.
"The next day, she was still in labour and we were desperate to still get married. But the staff weren't happy about her leaving so at first it was cancelled.
"Then they said we could go but only for an hour so we rushed to the car, got down there and got married.
"Afterwards, the reception and hotel had to be cancelled and we went back to the hospital. Partners aren't normally allowed to stay but the staff were great and found a bed and pushed it up to Chloe's so we could spend our wedding night together."
A day after Flynn's arrival, the couple were sitting in the ward listening to a Southern FM phone-in about wedding day nightmares.
Grant phoned in and recounted their tale live on air and ended up winning tickets to a comedy show in Brighton.
He said: "There was a radio by the bed and they were talking on Southern FM about wedding day problems. I thought I had one to beat the others and called in."
Mid morning Southern FM presenter Simone Bienne said: "I have heard of things going wrong on your wedding day but this really tops the lot."
