A town plagued by aggressive street drinkers has vowed: "Enough is enough."
Worthing Borough Council is planning a town-wide no-alcohol zone after a summer of discontent.
Dozens of residents complained about drunks using beach shelters as toilets.
Police launched a crackdown and now councillors are planning to extend the zero tolerance zone from the town centre area to the borough's boundaries in a bid to avoid a repeat performance next year.
Coun Ann Barlow, cabinet member for housing, said: "Enough is enough. We shall make sure it is enforced.
"The extension of the street drinking ban will not solve all of the associated antisocial behaviour at once but will give the police extra power to control this undesirable activity."
Worthing police chief inspector Jason Taylor said: "Recently Sussex Police launched a crackdown on alcohol-fuelled violence, yobbish and anti-social behaviour and in Worthing I want this to mean that we make a real difference to our community. This order will enable officers to deal effectively with anyone acting in an antisocial manner."
It will take approximately four-and-a half months to get the new order in place.
