We'd all heard about the legendary Air Guitar Championships and now here was our chance to see the rockstravaganza for ourselves.
Sadly, for an event which started out in Brighton 11 years ago, the level of guitarists lined up seemed a little poor.
The first competitor, Will, wore a grey sweatshirt until, when mocked by the organiser Jeffrey, he stripped off to launch into a kind of tarantella version of AC/DC's Back In Black.
But the night got better: Metallica's Enter Sandman, Steppenwolf's Born To Be Wild and Iron Maiden's Phantom Of The Opera elicited much beer throwing and spontaneous Flying V playing from the crowd.
But it was the disabled guy who threw away his sticks to rock out that summed up the spirit of the night. As the great Bon Jovi once said: "Your love is like bad medicine", and bad medicine is what we need.
