We all worry when we read of abuse in care homes for older people.
When the time comes for a relative to move into care, we want the best for them. Sadly, it doesn't always work out that way.
Although most care homes are adequate, and some are excellent, there remain a worrying number which simply don't improve the quality of care they offer.
At the Relatives and Residents Association, we offer support and advice to people who are concerned about the care their loved ones are receiving.
We welcome inquiries to our help line (020 7359 8136) and try to help callers tackle problems of this sort.
Our annual conference in London on October 18 is looking at the importance of protecting the human rights of older people in care homes.
