The Argus reported that Southern Water plans to install another 60,000 meters in people's homes over the next five years (The Argus, Sept 19).
What you failed to mention is the compulsory element. Meters will be fitted when customers change address, whether they like it or not.
Initially, meters will be fitted when a property owner moves but this may be extended to change of occupier, including tenants.
If Southern Water is serious about water conservation, it should stop picking on its customers and put its own house in order first by plugging its antiquated network of pipes. They leak millions of litres of water every day.
