Lewes manager Steven King praised the referee for changing his mind a 1-0 FA Cup win at Leyton
The Rooks narrowly went through to the third qualifying round after a controversial decision by Mike Rowley.
He awarded Leyton a penalty nine minutes from time after Leon Legge had fouled Leli Bajada but, after consulting his assistant, decided the incident occurred outside the area and gave a free-kick instead.
Lewes were leading at the time through a Karl Beckford penalty five minutes before half time.
King said: "You have to give the referee a lot of credit for changing his mind. It doesn't normally happen but he was big enough to do it. Leyton were going ballistic."
Manager Garry Wilson is "very confident" Eastbourne Borough can beat Redbridge in tomorrow's second qualifying round replay.
Borough will play the Ryman premier division strugglers at Priory Lane after scoring an 86th-minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw on Saturday.
David Collins put Redbridge ahead after two minutes but Ollie Rowland levelled from the penalty spot just before half time following a foul on Matt Smart.
Darryl Wilson restored the advantage for the hosts on 74 minutes before Stuart Tuck's late header saved Borough.
Bognor will travel to Basingstoke for a replay tomorrow after a 1-1 draw at Nyewood Lane. Ben Watson equalised for the Rocks just before the hour.
