In response to your article on parking (The Argus, September 15), may I submit the following comments?

This road has side and centre parking for approximately 160 vehicles but at any given time there are some 15-plus spaces unable to be used due to poor and inconsiderate parking.

This type of blocking is widespread throughout the city.

I am surprised that one simple helpful solution has not been imposed: As most roads have a parking line parallel to the kerb, why not paint lines the other way to form a box, and make parking outside that box an offence?

I have no idea of the cost involved but it would certainly provide a significant amount of extra parking. It might even discourage the "leave the car where it stops" attitude.
