With productions of Macbeth, Romeo And Juliet and Othello, London theatre company Love & Madness have built a reputation for relocating the classics in contemporary times.
Now, they're on tour with a double-whammy, backing Shakespeare's Twelfth Night (Sep 30) with a new adaptation of Emily Bronte's novel Wuthering Heights (Thurs), both staged in a typically bold and accessible style.
Adapted by the screen actor and comedian Alys Torrance, Love & Madness's Wuthering Heights promises to bring all the power of their fast-moving style to the classic love story of Heathcliff and Cathy. Aside from the feelings of intense betrayal experienced by a man rejected by his adoptive family and childhood sweetheart, the emphasis here is on "humour, bad weather and dangerous dogs".
Comedy Twelfth Night, meanwhile, is given a "dream-like quality" with a jamboree of characters all lusting for love.
Love & Madness founder Neil Sheppeck directs.
Starts at 7.30pm and on Sept 30 at 1pm and 7pm. Tickets cost £12.50, call 01293 553636.
