Amateur productions are often better than professional ones and just such a show is playing in Eastbourne this week.
Dotty Briant's talented Eastbourne Stagers are performing The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and it should not be missed.
Dave Nicholles is superb as the pathetic Quasimodo and you really feel his suffering, especially at the end of act one.
Laura Sivers is a delightful Esmerelda with a great voice and Fiona Dogan also peforms convincingly.
Luke Harvey proved to Eastbourne he could sing when he reached the final of Search For A Star. Now, playing Pierre, shows he can act as well.
Gareth Brighton is another well-cast part, playing Clopin.
Keith Smith does an excellent job directing and acting in the part of the Priest and Teresa Smith's choreography is slick.
Colourful costumes, an interesting set and good lighting complete the picture.
Running until Saturday.
