I am sorry Mrs M Batstone (Letters, September 13) objects to money being spent on improving the Volks Railway on Brighton seafront.

The railway remains hugely popular with all ages despite its rather run-down condition.

The expenditure envisaged appears relatively modest bearing in mind present-day construction costs, and a different track layout is bound to create fresh interest and, more importantly, increase ticket sales.

Volks Railway is an important part of the heritage of Brighton and Hove and any reasonable scheme to raise its profile deserves support.
