A group has been set up to represent a town's businesses.
Horsham Traders' Guild will develop new initiatives to make shopping in Horsham more appealing for visitors.
Dennis Hardy, owner of Country Produce in The Carfax, has been elected as chairman.
Councillor Roger Paterson, Cabinet member for economic development at Horsham District Council, said: "The traders' guild is a very important step in the town's development as the finest market town with the most vibrant economy anywhere in the region."
