On Monday, thousands of Albion fans will march on the Labour Conference to urge John Prescott to say YES to Falmer.
The Deputy Prime Minister is due to give his verdict on the long-running stadium saga before October 31.
Between now and Monday, The Argus will be speaking to fans to find out why they are going on the march. Here, Albion legend and 1983 FA Cup Final goal hero Gary Stevens, who went on to play for Spurs and England, tells why Falmer is the only choice:
I left Brighton for Spurs 22 years ago but I have followed the fortunes of the club very closely ever since.
My five happy years at the Albion coincided with a golden era at the Goldstone Ground.
We were in the top flight of English football, entertaining the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.
It culminated in the 1983 Cup Final, which launched my career on to another level. The plight of the club since the loss of the Goldstone has saddened me.
I've been to Withdean and it's a far-from-ideal football venue.
Where else in this country do fans have to sit without cover?
Those in the South Stand get lashed with rain.
Financially, the club must be haemorrhaging. It probably costs them money to stage a game than they make from one.
The stadium is make-or-break.
The only reason Albion have survived financially is because generous people have put their hands in their pockets.
They have only done that because of the stadium hope.
If John Prescott says no then there is no hope and you would have to question the sanity of anyone who continues ploughing money into the club.
I was in Brighton yesterday with my daughters.
It is a huge city with a big population and a vast catchment area.
I have no doubt the Albion could be a massive club but only with the new stadium and the revenue it could deliver.
Last year they managed to stay in the Championship despite a tiny budget and the fact they had to sell some of their best players.
Imagine what they could do with the revenue of 20,000 supporters at home games, rather than 6,000.
Albion would be a top team in the Championship and, dare I say it, challenging for the Premiership.
Brighton fans amaze me. To travel to Gillingham every couple of weeks for two years takes incredible commitment.
And look at the people who turn up week in week out to Withdean to get soaked.
They deserve better, and that's why we all need to get out there and march for Falmer.
