I understand from the seafront beach officer that the barriers were erected to deter cyclists who ignore the signs put up to deter them from using the prom.

How three large barriers are going to deter cyclists from using the seafront is beyond my comprehension.

Just in front of the barriers are two large signs saying "no cycling", followed by two big "no entry" signs. If these do not stop cyclists, I don't think three stupid barriers will.

Having watched most cyclists ignore them from my seafront apartment, they are obviously not working.

I agree with TM Bailey's comment that the barriers are the council's most stupid idea of the year. Perhaps it could erect some machine gun towers to go with

the barriers?
