If you have children or grandchildren then grab them quickly and take them to an evening of excitement and enchantment.
If you are young at heart, go alone and share the pleasure generated by this remarkable theatrical event.
Kipling's much-loved stories have been skilfully adapted by Birmingham Stage Company's creative team to provide a thrilling and humorous production which tells the adventures of the boy, Mowgli, brought up by wolves, and his journey to establish himself as king of the jungle.
Tony Hasnath gives a highly convincing performance as the man cub.
The show's strength lies in avoiding the tweeness of the Disney cartoon and by not playing down to its young audience.
It does not shirk from portraying the ferociousness of the jungle animals that at times shocks and frightens.
Any such fear created is the sort youngsters are fascinated by - the fear which is seen by peeping through fingers or by crouching behind the sofa.
The realisation of the animals is cleverly achieved through a blend of costume, movement and puppetry. Almost a case of Cats meets the Lion King.
Great attention is given to the reproduction of the stance and movement of the animals.
With a mixture of vaudeville routines and pantomime-style audience participation, there are plenty of comic moments to compensate the darker side of the story. Trevor Toussaint as Baloo, the bear, and Ben Redfern, the treacherous jackal, are the comic mainstays.
