I read your article, "Police get tough on mini bikes" The Argus, September 12) and the funny thing is that the police said exactly the same thing a few months ago, with the fantastic result that police have confiscated two machines in four months. Wow! So tough, eh?
They have so much experience with these mini motors that they ask the public "to note offending bike registrations and pass them to the police". But mini motors do not have registration plates.
As a keen motorcyclist who doesn't want to see mini motor riders getting into trouble,
I spoke to a rider recently about his illegal situation.
He was polite enough to listen, kill the engine and get his machine off the road. But knowing he would have to
later return home and could
be expected to be riding again,
I phoned the police and got the usual negative attitude.
Fifteen minutes later and, sure enough, the lad was riding home, this time on the pavement. I phoned the police, again with the same result.
