I was walking along the prom in Eastbourne and encountered a man and what I presumed to be his two young sons roller skating.
The man was encouraging his sons to perform stunts which involved leaping onto the freshly-vanished memorial benches.
The children were leaving deep scratches on the benches. Along with a number of others, I remonstrated with the man for allowing the boys to vandalise them in this way.
His couldn't-care-less attitude made us angry. What chance do those children have of becoming responsible citizens with a father like that?
