Alan Nunn (Letters, September 8) asks why many gay people are driven to demonstrate that they are gay and happy about it.
Well, his letter is the answer because it shows the ignorance and prejudice which still exists today on the matter of sexuality.
To call homosexuality "morally corrupt" and equate it with drug-taking, drunkenness and disrespect for authority is quite absurd and an insult to many good people.
I haven't a clue why I happen to be gay - I have older and younger brothers who aren't - for me it is just a fact and a small part of my life.
However, it was interesting that The Argus carried an article on the same day about a sex survey conducted in 1949 in which one in five men talked freely of having had a gay experience.
Why can't Mr Nunn just get on with being whatever he happens to be and accept that this privilege extends to everyone else as well?
Perhaps then events like Gay Pride won't be needed. Or perhaps he just doesn't like parties?
