I have owned a Victorian flat near the King Alfred for 30 years. I love Hove, which has a more distinguished seafront than Brighton, which was spoiled by towers without any character or quality built years ago.
Now Hove has the chance to have a modern amenity with two residential towers by a world-class architect.
I have just returned from Bilbao and his art gallery is the most exciting building I have seen.
There aren't protests against nondescript developments which make towns boring.
I would welcome a Gehry building as a neighbour. It would, for once, create affordable housing which is badly needed, in a stylish design which would not clash but would balance the "Costa Geriatrica" image of Hove.
Let us be as courageous as the Victorians and build something to be proud of.
