As a frequent visitor to Hove and one who is hoping to move there, I am concerned by the proposed development and high-rise towers on the King Alfred site.
Not only is the huge construction completely out of scale with the surrounding buildings but it is appallingly out of character.
A blight on their surroundings, these towers would cast long shadows, depriving the area of light.
Then there's the logistics of increased traffic and the demand upon local services.
For instance, as the Government is bent on decreasing the number of hospital beds across the country - Hove and Brighton will not be exempt - the increased demand from 750 flats will overwhelm an NHS already under strain.
I am not against evolving cities but this development doesn't fit with Hove.
To think this ruinous monstrosity is proposed on public land is scandalous.
None of the locals I have spoken to want it but, yet again, the council seems out of step with public opinion in the misguided belief it knows best. What incredible, mindblowing arrogance.
Once saddled with these towers, they'll be there for many years, to blight the lives of Hove residents before they're eventually demolished.
They have no place here. In Los Angeles yes. In Hove, no.
