Leon Knight today launched a cheeky attempt to increase his season's tally for Albion to three goals.
The little striker opened the scoring in the first half with the 50th League goal of his career in Saturday's 33 thriller at Leeds.
Knight's 83rd minute cross was then diverted into his own net by Leeds defender Sean Gregan to put the Seagulls 32 up but he believes the goal should be credited to him.
"It's my goal, I'm claiming it without a doubt," Knight said. "I'm going to the FA.
"I've seen people claim ridiculous goals this season and last season as well, deflecting off everywhere, so I'm claiming that as a shotcross which deflected into the net."
Knight and Sebastien Carole's first goal for the club from his pass gave Albion a 20 cushion early in the second half. David Healy's quickfire double hauled Leeds level and sub Jonathan Douglas equalised again in injury time after Gregan's intervention to leave Knight and his teammates reflecting on what might have been.
"We're gutted," he said. "It was two points lost rather than a point gained, so we're not happy, although it's a good job we didnt lose. At 22 it could have gone either way."
Knight is now planning to terrorise the defence of Championship leaders Sheffield United at Withdean tomorrow night, when Albion will be trying to stretch their unbeaten run to four games.
He scored a last-gasp winner at Bramall Lane last season and he said: "Hopefully I can score against them again. We're confident and we're at home."
