Magistrates will decide whether a council was right to extend opening hours at a pub.
An appeal has been lodged against Lewes District Council's decision to allow the Old Plough in Church Street, Seaford, to stay open an hour later.
It is the first appeal the council has had to deal with and will be heard at Lewes and Crowborough Magistrates Court.
People living near the pub objected to the new hours, saying they would lead to an increase in rowdy behaviour.
The pub's owners claim The Plough attracts older customers who are less likely to make noise and the later hours would not always be used.
