Nick Nurse has identified the man to be his on-court leader in the new British League season.

The Brighton Bears coach has agreed terms with 24-year-old American point guard Terrance McGee, who is expected to be his first choice playmaker.

McGee averaged 14.4 points and 4.3 assists per game with Scottish Rocks two seasons ago and has most recently been playing for Des Moines Heat in America's IBL.

He comes from Milwaukee and played college basketball at South West missouri, whos team are also known as the Bears.

Nurse clinched the signing of McGee on his recent visit to Oklahoma and is likely to reveal at least one more signing from that trip before training starts next Wednesday.

The Bears chief said: "Terrance was awesome when the Rocks were pretty good two years ago.

"He's similar to what we had last season in Ryan Huntley. He's tough. People are going to love him."

McGee joines Andrew Alleyne and Ronnie Baker as players confirmed for next season as Nurse lags behind schedule in team re-building.

Huntley and Tony Holley have already joined Leicester, with Holley telling fans via the internet Riders had outbid Brighton for his services.

Nurse said: "If other teams offer more money, what can I do? Guys will take the best offer.

"I don't outbid too many people. If guys get better offers, I let them go."

Worthing Thunder are excited about their new American signing after picking up 6ft 4in guard Alfredo Ott.

The 22-year-old joins fresh from NAIA outfit Dillard University, who he led in points, rebounds, steals and blocks.

Ott started all 124 games played during his four years, averaging 15.7 points and 4.5 rebounds a game.

Worthing assistant coach Alan Sweetman-Hicks expects Ott's versatility to cause rival EBL teams a lot of problems.

Thunder have also re-signed Pat Bates and Jon Bailey.

They will be up against former Bears assistant Rob Birchmore this season after he took over as head coach at Kingston Wildcats.
