Our invitation arrived with the coat of arms by royal appointment.
This was sent to all councillors and, I understand, all celebrities throughout our city by Karis and ING Real Estate Development UK for a meeting to be held on September 12 to mark the planning submission of the designs by Frank Gehry for the King Alfred.
It would seem this is a "fait accompli". Are we just going through the motions of a democracy?
Furthermore, in reply to Denise Lunn's letter (September 3), the information she has given came from a presentation given to councillors and selected guests at the Jubilee Library in Brighton on August 26.
Even reporters from The Argus were not invited. This was not for public consumption, otherwise journalists would have been invited. One has to ask, where did she gain this information and who does she represent?
-Councillor Anne Giebeler, leader of the Independent Group, Brighton and Hove City Council
