A health watchdog has called an extraordinary meeting to talk about the care elderly people were given at a Brighton hospital.
Brighton and Hove City Council's health overview and scrutiny panel set up the meeting following the BBC Panorama programme which revealed shocking standards of neglect at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
The programme created national headlines and The Argus was inundated with calls, emails and letters from people angry at the treatment their elderly relatives and friends had received.
The meeting will include a presentation from hospital chief executive Peter Coles and director of nursing Alison Robertson. They will be answering questions from city councillors, the Older People's Council and representatives from charities which help the elderly.
Panel chairman Kevin Allen said: "Our next scheduled meeting was not until October but we felt this was too important a subject to wait until then. This is a one-off meeting and this is the only subject we will be covering.
"It will not only give the panel a chance to ask questions but will be an opportunity for the hospital to explain what action it has taken to make sure we never see anything like this again."
The meeting, at Hove Town Hall on Monday at 6.30pm, is open to the public.
