Thanks to The Argus (September 1) for pointing out the dilemma those of us living in Hanover and Queen's Park now face if we have kids going into year 6 on returning to school next week.

I am sick to death of Brighton and Hove City Council reeling out that 90 per cent of parents get their first choice school.

They don't if they live in our area. That 90 per cent success rate is at our expense. We don't even get our nose in the trough when it comes to gaining a place at the over-subscribed schools in the city.

As The Argus says, we can try to raise the money to send our kids to private school or move house.

What if we don't have such money?

Parents might also be interested to know that whatever address they and their child are living at on approximately the third Friday in October will be the address which will deem whether or not they live near enough to the school of their choice.

A bit too late now, I should think, to move house. Those in rented accommodation, though, might just manage that deadline.

My plans? To move out of Brighton and Hove completely.

Just that small matter of selling my house to overcome!
