Gary Hart today revealed plans to rejuvenate his Albion career with a third change of position.

The long-serving Seagull believes he could have a future at rightback after replacing the injured Jason Dodd in Monday's 2-0 home win against Plymouth.

Hart was a centre forward when he joined Albion from non-League Stansted seven years ago. He was converted into a right winger but, with Frenchman Sebastien Carole currently starring in that role, Hart was happy to help the defence to a clean sheet in his first appearance of the season against Argyle.

"I'm thinking to myself I might have found a new position which I like," he said. "I've got to work at it but it might be another option for me in my career.

"I think I did reasonably well and I think the gaffer was quite happy with me seeing as I've never really played there before.

"Seb is playing fantastic on the right wing at the moment, so I wouldn't expect to take his place.

"I'm starting to enjoy my football again. I was going through a stage where I wasn't playing and wondering where my career was going.

"I still don't know. I'm still in and out of the team at the moment and that's not the way you want it to be but I'm quite happy playing in a new position."

Manager Mark McGhee said: "Gary can head the ball and he's a good tackler. He's played on the right hand side of the park for a long time. There is no reason why he shouldn't be able to play at rightback.

"It's a position not that different from when he plays further forward on the right and he did fine against Plymouth."

Hart, 29, later this month, knows his joy could be shortlived. Close friend Kerry Mayo will be fit for selection for Albion's next match at Leeds a week tomorrow following a calf injury.

"It doesn't matter who takes your place, it would be frustrating for me," Hart admitted.
