Residents have reacted with concern at news they will soon have a £2.2 million nightclub neighbouring them.
It emerged yesterday that the three-room Funktion Rooms will open in Pevensey Road, Eastbourne, in November.
But the Pevensey Road Neighbourhood Association wanted to know why its members were not consulted.
Chairwoman Yvonne Burrell said: "There will obviously be concern, not only about the club itself but why there was no public consultation.
"It doesn't seem right that we should find out about these type of things through a local newspaper reporter."
The company behind the venture, London-based Mansito, aims to turn the Funktion Rooms into a nationally-recognised club.
Managing director Rob Jackson yesterday said the company would be willing to allay concerns if residents wrote to them.
