elsewhere?irstly, may I congratulate Tony Austin's mother on reaching the ripe old age of 90 (Letters, August 29).
In response to his comments, last time I went to Stanmer Park in Brighton I am sure it stretched a long distance from south to north, so why plonk yourself down to be annoyed with surroundings when you can simply move further up the park?
The marching band which practises there has to do so somewhere, so where would he suggest?
This band covers all age groups and has many members who might otherwise be part of street corner yob culture if not channelling their energies in this direction.
To reach perfection does, indeed, take much practice and I believe this group of musicians and dancers were past British champions and hope to be so again soon.
