An MP has congratulated the owner of a landmark seafront building for restoring it to its former glory.
David Lepper, Labour MP for Brighton Pavilion, sent his message to Bluestorm, owner of Embassy Court on Brighton seafront, as it prepares to celebrate its completion on Saturday.
In the early Nineties Mr Lepper was involved as a councillor in attempts by leaseholder residents to deal with problems that had built up after years of neglect by successive owners of the freehold.
He said: "In Parliament I have pointed out how the archaic leasehold laws had allowed this neglect to happen.
"I believe reforms to leasehold law brought in by Labour in 2003, giving leaseholders powers to manage blocks and buy the freeholds, will help ensure other buildings do not face similar problems.
"It has been sad to see the decline of Embassy Court but wonderful now to see the splendour return thanks to efforts of residents."
