Gourmet cakes flavoured with lemon drizzle, rich chocolate and lime and coconut have been named as among the best food products of the year.
The desserts, made by Brighton and Hove's Kai Organics, won prizes in the Great Taste Awards 2005.
The competition, organised by the Guild Of Fine Food Retailers, recognises firms that have made their mark in the world of fine food and drink.
Members of A Taste Of Sussex, which caters for food companies in the region, won 19 gold, 12 silver and 15 bronze awards.
Kai Organics, which has an office in Old Shoreham Road, Hove, and a cafe in Gardner Street, Brighton, won gold for its gluten-free rich chocolate cake, silver for its lemon drizzle cake and bronze for its baked lemon cheesecake and its lime and coconut cake.
The Southover Food Company, based in Southwick, won gold for its free-range ham and silver for its free-range dry gammon.
The supreme champion of the Great Taste Awards will be announced at the Speciality And Fine Food Trade Fair at Olympia, London, from September 4 to 6.
