Environmental officers in Brighton show a lack of logic by giving permission for a street party but not ensuring music does not exceed health limits.
On Sunday, August 7, a party in St George's Road, Kemp Town, included music which was so amplified, people had to shut windows on that hot day and were stifled for several hours.
There is a danger to young people, where tiny hairs in the ears are affected by loud noise. When they are bombarded with loud noise over a period of time, deafness results due to the hairs losing their ability to spring back into place.
Don't environmental officers, who are supposed to look after the public, know about this?
In the good old days we had enjoyable street parties, where jelly and cakes and lemonade was the order of the day and people chatted to one another.
Life has now become intolerable and it will get worse, particularly when drinkers go noisily home in the early hours due to lengthened licensing hours.
