It is wonderful to read about children walking - a refreshing change from them being ferried minute distances by car.
So when a friend told me of the achievements of young Cameron Tandy (The Argus, August 13), I was full of admiration.
But, come on, it is impossible to climb Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis in 24 hours - unless he and his father were helicoptered to the bases of the mountains.
The sheer distance between each of them makes it impossible, apart from the time taken to climb all three (and I presume they walked up and down again), plus the necessity for sleep in between and the travelling involved.
My grandsons (aged 11 and nine) are, with their parents, avid climbers/walkers and have scaled these three peaks plus many more in UK and abroad.
Ben Nevis took them six and a half hours (up and down).
I hope Cameron continues climbing. He's a boy with spirit and his essay on "what I did in the school holidays" should put his friends' efforts in the shade.
