What a waste of public money. I doubt there is one taxpayer in a hundred concerned that there might be foreign seasonal workers in Brighton who lack the paperwork our Government requires of them.
The raid on the Palace Pier (The Argus, August 24) looks like a real misuse of resources at a time when there are unpleasant forms of people-trafficking into the UK - and presumably real problems with terrorism.
The UK Immigration Service says the raid was "intelligence-led". That may mean no more than that someone had a grudge against the Noble Organisation, which runs the Pier.
I hope the organisation stands up vigorously to this and I urge readers to pop along to the pier and spend a few quid at the earliest opportunity.
As for the UK Immigration Service, it should spend our money on real work to protect us from harm.
