With reference to your article about seagulls (The Argus, August 18), we know their place is on the shoreline. However, with the sea around our coast almost fished out, what else can they do but come inland?
I would also like to point out the seagull and pigeon crisis has not been brought on by the few of us who throw out small amounts of food to all birds but by irresponsible residents of Brighton and Hove leaving unprotected bin bags and carrier bags for the birds to rip open.
It has always been traditional to put out small amounts of bread, cake and seed for our birds, especially in the winter. Do we want rotting and starving corpses of birds all over our city's streets?
Remember when birds cease to fly, humans will no longer walk the Earth. There is already a drastic decline in our bird population.
Animals and birds have the same right to live as (most) human beings.
