Wayne Henderson today revealed the loan nightmare affecting his Albion rospects for the second season running.
The young Aston Villa goalkeeper wants to stay until Christmas or for good.
As things stand, the Seagulls can only hold onto Henderson until November if Villa agree to extend his loan.
Henderson was on the brink of joining Albion last seasonbut was prevented from doing so because Notts County had already signed him on a season long loan.
"It's the same as last season all over again," said the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international.
"The gaffer wanted to extend the loan to three months.
"I would rather do something longer term until Christmas. We've checked on all the rulings and I don't think it is possible.
"If you have come for a month you can only extend it by two more to the three.
"I'd gladly come here on a permanent move. I've stated that to the manager but whether he is in a position to do that I don't know.
"That's where I stand. I'm delighted to be here, I'm loving every second of it, so if we can do that then that would be brilliant.
"In the meantime I have got two games left of this loan spell, so I am just concentrating on that now."
Henderson, barred by Villa from playing in Tuesday's Carling Cup defeat at Shrewsbury, returns in place of Frenchman Florent Chaigneau at Preston tomorrow.
Rightback Jason Dodd, rested against Shrewsbury, is a doubt with a left foot injury sustained in the first half at Hull last Saturday.
"Yesterday morning when I came in it was absolutely killing me," Dodd said.
"I'm hoping it's just bruising and it is just going to go away."
Manager Mark McGhee will play striker turned midfielder Leon Knight in the centre of the park again at Deepdale.
"Leon is arguably our best footballer," McGhee said.
"He got on the ball in good areas against Shrewsbury. His final ball wasn't as accurate or dangerous as I thought it would be but I think he can improve on that.
"Having Leon in there gives us creativity and while we look for someone who can give us that he will continue in midfield."
Either Charlie Oatway or Richard Carpenter will be left out again after both were rested from the starting line-up at Shrewsbury.
Preston manager Billy Davies has to select between Danny Dichio and Patrick Agyemang up front following Richard Cresswell's move to Leeds.
Davies has a similar choice to make on the left side of midfield between Lewis Neal, a summer signing from Stoke, and Manchester United loanee David Jones.
