Factory workers are offering hope amid the continuing violence and uncertainty in Iraq.
Eschmann Equipment, a leading medical manufacturer in Peter Road, Lancing, has sent three operating tables to hospitals in Najaf and Baghdad.
The tables, part of a consignment of much needed medical equipment offered as a gift to the people of Iraq by a number of leading UK medical companies, were shipped to the Middle East with the help of the Association of British Healthcare Industries, the Royal Air Force and the US Army.
Philip Kennedy, sales and marketing director at Eschmann, said: "Having worked with the Iraqi healthcare community for many years it is very sad for us to see the tremendous difficulties being faced by all involved, clinicians and patients alike."
Eschmann Equipment employs 230 people.
